The Herald Express South Devon Business Excellence Award winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony on Friday 10th February 2012 at the Riviera International Conference Centre in Torquay.

With great entertainment, an impressive menu with locally sourced food and a few surprises along the way, the evening is destined to be a memorable night. The event begins at 6:30pm with a drinks reception where guests will be able to enjoy top quality music along with a glass of sparkling wine.

You will be able to sit – and be photographed –  in a replica Formula 1 car before enjoying a three-course black tie dinner at 7:30pm.

The presentation of the South Devon Business Excellence Awards 2011 will follow. Hosted by ex- footballer, Chris Hargreaves, the winners of each of the 9 business award categories will be announced in an Oscar style presentation after the meal.

The evening will be rounded off with 10 piece soul and jazz band, Soulfunktion.

Host – Chris Hargreaves
The event is being hosted by former English  footballer and TV presenter Chris Hargreaves. Chris, who has played professionally in over 600 games, also scored in the fifth round of the FA Cup against Manchester United whilst playing for Northampton Town – albeit in the wrong net.

Chris has also branched out into the business world as this year, opening a sports shop in Sidmouth and writing his autobiography, “Where’s your Caravan?”.

Built as a generic Formula 1 car using the same moulds that are used to create the cars you see racing today, many of the components are sourced from the world of Formula 1 making sure that everything meets the same high standards and also this ensures the feel and look of the cars is as close to the real thing as possible.

Soulfunktion

The evening entertainment finishes with South Devon soul band ‘Soul Funktion’ who have gained the well earned reputation of being one of Devon’s leading top quality function band for this very special event.

From its base in Torbay, ‘Soul Funktion’ works hard on delivering an engaging mix of hi-energy, big sound soul numbers to appeal across all age ranges, including classic  soul music that everybody loves  from ‘Play That Funky Music’, to ‘Give Me  Some Lovin’, ‘Superstition’ to  ’Walking On Sunshine’, our dynamic, highly  visual performance and choice of  great dance music will ensure a packed  dance floor.

The soul band’s 10 piece line-up includes both male  and female vocalists,  a three piece horn section and a solid back line of  guitar, bass, drums  and keyboards.
